Friends of Stoney Pond (FROSTY)

MADISON COUNTRY NEW YORK

Peter Radosta started Friends of Stoney Pond (FROSTY) back in 2018 to make outdoor recreation accessible all year round. They’re focused on building and maintaining trails for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

The plan is working!

Since they started grooming the snow, the parking lots are full, hiking/skiing groups are out, and there are even snowshoe events happening.

FROSTY’s crew has worked tireless with the state’s environmental crew, local landowners, and other groups to keep the trails in top shape!

Central New York Community Foundation provided them with a grant, which allowed them to expand their snow grooming equipment and provide free snowshoes for anyone to use. (WAY COOL!)

Its all about being outside!

It’s bringing people together, keeping them active, and even giving the local economy a lift.

FROSTY’s making it so easy for everyone to get outside, and it really builds that sense of community in Madison County.

Keep up the good work FROSTY and if you are ever in Madison County New York in the winter make sure to stop by the Stoney Pond State Forest trails and show your support!
